Hearing Education Clinic

THURSDAY, June 6th from 1:00 – 4:30 pm

This educational seminar will focus on the importance of hearing health, what causes hearing loss and the services that are available to seniors to help. This includes free hearing tests, wax removal, styles of hearing devices and how they work. After the presentation, there will be a hearing clinic for those who would like to have their hearing tested and to learn of the devices that can help you specifically.  Registration is required for this event. Please register for a seat as well as for a spot in the hearing clinic. Email, phone or in person.

The hearing test clinic will start around 1:45 pm and you can book your 30 minute time slot with a hearing instrument specialist with HEAR Canada.

May Daze Social

WEDNESDAY,  May 29th at 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm.

Join in the fun of some interesting historical trivia to learn and guess the answers! A good workout for our brains. Refreshments and ice cream to be served.

For Members. Cost: $3.oo. Please register before May 24th for a seat.

Registration & Membership

Membership fees for 2024 remain at $30 for the year. Your membership fees can be paid prior to any activity that you have registered for or are attending, except for socials. We accept cash or cheque. To attend a Social, you must already be a member of the Centre.

Registration & Membership/Fee Payment Drop-in on Fridays between 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm.

Please DO NOT attend the Centre or any activity if you feel unwell or have symptoms of an illness; or if you live with someone who is ill or has symptoms of being ill. We want to keep everyone healthy and well in this new year to enjoy the activities together. 

Qi Gong for Members

MONDAYS,  from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.

New Classes begin on MONDAY, APRIL 29th.  Please register by MONDAY, April 22nd by email or by phone.

Qi Gong (said “chee gong:), is an ancient Chinese meditation and movement type of exercise. It involves movement,  breathing techniques and meditation. (it is similar to Tai Chi but has more movement techniques). A great workout!

“Qi” mean life force or vital energy and “Gong” is how we cultivate or master that vital energy. So Qi Gong means working with energy to improve health & balance of the mind and body. The 5 elements and acupressure points will also be discussed.  In this class, you can be standing or seated. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your own water.

Registration is by email or in person. Email: [email protected]. You must be a member of the Centre to take this class. If you are not a member, you can fill out the membership form and pay the membership fees at the first class. Please attend about 15-20 minutes before the start of the first class to do this.

Cost: $40 for 8 weeks. (cash or cheque accepted in advance or on the first day of class). Register by April 22nd.

Heart Healthy Seminar

TUESDAY, MAY 14th from 1:30 – 2:45 pm

Learn about heart disease; Review cholesterol & factors that affect blood pressure; medications to protect the heart and ways to improve your heart health. The seminar is provided by a professional health educator. Register before May 6th for a seat. For Members only. No cost to attend. Great information for everybody!

Darts: to register

If enough people are interested, we will schedule a time and day for the Spring, for this exciting game.

Walking Program

There will be no more walking outside now with the colder weather upon us. Stay tuned for updates for the new year.

Learn Italian

TUESDAYS, 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm; July 9TH- August 27th (8 weeks); September 10th – October 29th (8 weeks). Cost: $24/8 weeks.  For Members. We are compiling names for a new beginner class for the dates listed above.

Ciao! Would you like to learn the harmonious language of Italian? This group is for those who do NOT speak Italian but would like to learn some common words, phrases, etc. Our instructor is from Italy and would like to share her language and pictures with members. We will have refreshments & dessert on the last class. This is an informal class and a fun way to meet other members who love languages!

Then this is the group for you!  The moderator will share lesser known but fascinating news from the areas of Science, History, Technology, World news.

You can listen in or share your comments as this is an informal and easy going group. Discuss, Debate, Learn Together. Hope you will join us!

 

Socials for Members

Socials are a great way to meet fellow members! Have a cup of coffee and a scrumptious dessert and enjoy some fun and challenging trivia! We always have fun!

Socials are held every 2-3 weeks throughout the year for members. To attend a Social, you must already have your membership for the Centre.
