Hand Mobility Exercises

Tuesdays, after the Qi Gong class for 15- 20 minutes. (start Feb. 21st).

If you have arthritis or have decreased strength in your fingers, hands and wrists, then these exercises may help to increase strength and dexterity in your hands.

This activity will be done for those members who are attending the qi gong Fitness class and would like to participate. (no cost).

 

Gentle Fitness: Qi Gong

Tuesdays, 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm; classes have finished and will restart in July (instructor will be away).

This gentle exercise class incorporates flowing movements, gentle stretches and breathing exercises. “Qi” means ENERGY, “Gong” means SKILL. Our instructor, Natalya will explain the  teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the elements of fire, water, air and metal.  It is done standing but you may also do the exercises seated. It is suitable for all levels of abilities.

– Improve Balance and Mobility,- Help with Bad Mood and Depression, – Improve Memory Difficulties, – Increase Sense of Well Being. It is a holistic approach for the body, mind and emotions.

Cost: $30 for 6 weeks (paid by cash or cheque only or $5.00 per class). You may pay on the first day of class or if you are at the Centre for another program, you may also pay in advance.

Socials for Members

Socials are a great way to meet fellow members! Have a cup of coffee and a scrumptious dessert and enjoy some fun and challenging trivia!

Socials are held every 2-3 weeks throughout the year for members.

 

 

Strength and Stretch Exercise Class

Wednesdays: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm. 

For 6 weeks: Cost: $40. (paid in cash or cheque only). FOR MEMBERS ONLY. 

Classes: April 26th -May 31st.  Next Set of Classes are: June 7, 14, 21, July 12, 19, 26 (6 weeks)

Members must pre-register for these classes. You may register by email 1 week prior to the start of any set of classes. ([email protected])

This Active class focuses on Heart Health.  It consists of:

  • Cardio exercises
  • strengthening exercises to increase your heart rate
  • hand-held weights and soft balls
  • some dance style exercises
  • mostly standing exercises
  • bands for stretch exercises
  • an active class, not for individuals who need to remain seated for a fitness class
  • This is an excellent workout! and a popular class with our members

Payment for this class will be taken before and after the class, 12 noon – 2:00 pm. or in advance.  Cash or cheque only. Physical distancing in effect. Please bring your own water.

Board Games

TUESDAYS, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Board Games:  Are you interested in playing Monopoly? Or Clue? Or Scrabble?  How about Train Dominoes?! If so, please send your name, phone number and the game that you would like to play to: [email protected]

Badminton

Thursdays, 1:00 pm -2:30 pm. Pre-Registration required

For Members Only. (with regulation nets; double and single play). Cost to play: $2.00

You may also register by phone if you are a member by leaving your name and phone number.

If you wish to become a Member of the Centre, you can fill out the membership form and bring it with you or fill one out at the Centre after the game.

When the weather is warmer, we will play outside in the parking lot.

 

 

Telephone Programs

Introducing a new way to participate in a program at the Centre!. This new, interactive multi-line telephone system allows multiple callers to be on the line together to talk and learn with one another.  It is free and all you need is a phone!  Once you register, you will receive the information as to how to call in/login for the call.  Once you are connected, you will hear a beep, and then you say your name. Once everyone is on the line, the program will begin.

Programs are listed in the Daily Calender.

These programs are free but the Centre accepts any donations towards the programs at the Centre. The Centre is a registered charity. You can make a donation by going to the Donate tab and donate through CanadaHelps. The Centre is then notified of the donation.

Table Tennis

Tuesdays: 9:30 am – 11:30 am; on Fridays at 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

(No Table Tennis on Friday, May 12th)

$2.00 per session. Membership required. 

Join an avid group of players for fun, friendly competition and exercise!  Physical distancing when seated for a rest break.  Bring your own water.

Euchre

Fridays, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm  

Membership required. 

Join this friendly group of card players and enjoy the game of Euchre!  We are always looking to welcome new members. Cost: $2.00. You may pay your membership before the program if you are not a member already. It takes a few minutes to fill out the membership form. Seating is at large tables to allow for more physical distancing between players.
